Chili & Salsa Chefs
Downtown Midland is looking for great chili and salsa chefs to participate in the 20th Annual Chili & Salsa TASTE-OFF on September 22nd from noon to 3 p.m. in Downtown Midland!
There is NO FEE to enter, limit of 1 entry per chef! Chefs agree to bring a minimum of five (5) gallons of chili or salsa, which is just enough for each of our 600 ticket holders to try a single 1 oz. sample of each recipe. If you choose to use your own larger sample cups, larger ladle, or want to allow ticket holders to try seconds (or thirds) please bring extra! ALL chili & salsa must be prepared and stored in a licensed kitchen. Arrangements can be made to pair chefs with a licensed kitchen if necessary.
On the day of the event you are required to set up early at your assigned table (Details Coming Soon). Service officially runs from noon until 3 p.m. (we hope to give judges a head start at 11:30 a.m. if we get the all clear from the Health Department). You will need a crock pot (or two) or an ice bath as well as a cooler/insulated storage container(s) to keep hot food hot or cold food cold. The MDBA provides the serving cups and a few other necessities. Chefs are encouraged to decorate their serving table in a fun theme and bring a friend to help serve. Chefs receive 2 complimentary tickets to attend this event.
