Main Street Glow 2014
Thursday, September 11 – kicks off one of our first events of fall as we welcome the Midland Balloon Festival to Main Street, Midland.
The event kicks off around 6 p.m. when we invite you to line Main Street and cheer on the 300+ runners taking part in the Midland Law Enforcement Torch Run to support Special Olympics. That run begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Law Enforcement Center and will make its way downtown, anticipating an arrival on Main Street around 6 p.m.
A handful of balloon baskets will line Main Street beginning at 5:45 p.m. and will greet the runners with an early basket burn to welcome their trip down Main Street.
The rest of the baskets will fill up Main Street after the runners have gone through. The Main Street Glow event will officially run from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. with music, a balloonist trading card scavenger hunt and other fun events along with the exciting opportunity to get up close and personal with the balloonists as they share their craft and a burst of their burners.
Parking spaces along Main Street between Gordon and McDonald will begin to be coned off around 4 p.m. in preparation for the balloon baskets. Main Street will be closed at 5:30 p.m. between Gordon and Main Street; Ashman from Larkin to Ann Street will also be closed beginning at 5:30 p.m.
It will be a great night with the balloonists in Downtown Midland. Hope you will stop by and enjoy.
The balloon fest continues all weekend long at the Midland County Fairgrounds – for more information on their times and events, please visit: www.midlandballoonfest.com
