Redevelopment and Design Study now available.

The plan identifies new potential development opportunities and defines physical enhancement projects within the downtown. The plan identifies opportunities for new housing within the downtown and methods for improving the pedestrian environment that connects the downtown to existing neighborhoods.  In May 2007, two days of open public workshops were held as a forum to provide the DDA and the general public the opportunity to provide direct input into the plan. Members of the community participated in various aspects of the workshops including site walks, identification of priorities for change, identification of recent success, focus groups, and general discussions regarding the downtown. Together with data from previous DDA and city studies, public workshop opinions and designs, and preferences from study groups Hamilton Anderson Associates prepared a redevelopment and design plan. The plan was approved at the November 14, 2007 DDA Board meeting.

Thank you to everyone who participated!

Make Midland Beautiful - a Beautiful Success!

On behalf of the City of Midland’s Beautification Advisory Committee and The Make Midland Beautiful Art Celebration Program, we would like to thank the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) and all the businesses that were involved in highlighting this year’s student artists.

This programs’ mission is to encourage young artists within the Midland Public and Parochial schools to create a poster that conveys their interpretations of what makes Midland beautiful.  The 2008’s school representatives did an awesome job in depicting some of several wonders of our area.  Many positive comments were received from the community and the students’ artwork was well admired.

It is worth noting that this was the first year in which school children's work was featured on Main Street.  We wholeheartedly feel that it added to the vibrant downtown environment and look forward to working again with these young Midland artists, the DDA and Midland’s downtown businesses in the future!

Our best,

The City of Midland’s Beautification Advisory Committee
